TGSRTC driver suffers ‘heart attack’ while behind the wheel, stops bus safely, averts tragedy

A 60-year-old Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) driver reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving a bus but managed to stop the vehicle safely, averting a major tragedy near Jagtial town on Saturday (August 29).

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when a bus carrying about 50 passengers was traveling from Maddunur in Buggaram mandal to Jagtial.

The driver, identified as Lakshman, felt severe pain in his chest while behind the wheel and managed to stop the bus on the road before losing consciousness, sources said.

He was immediately rushed to the Government General Hospital, Jagtial, where he regained consciousness after treatment. His condition was stated to be stable.

Lakshman is scheduled to retire from service on Monday, August 31, 2026.
