A team of officials from the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) conducted surprise inspections in the Shadnagar area on the evening of November 28 and identified several unqualified doctors and clinics operating without permits.
On review, the team identified a medical practitioner with misleading qualifications. ABV Hospital’s Dr Anand Kumar Chettipally, who holds an MBBS degree, was found running a multi-specialty facility while claiming to be a specialist with “MD from London”, a qualification not recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). “He performed 2D echo tests with the help of an echo technician and issued reports while posing as a cardiologist. He has been issued a notice and the matter will be referred to the Ethics Committee. Action against the technician involved would also be recommended under the NMC Act and TMPR,” the report said.
TGMC members also found several centers offering allopathic treatment without any medical qualifications. Keerthi Polyclinic, run by G. Balakrishna and Raju, was found to be administering allopathic treatment despite the absence of valid medical certificates. Balaji Polyclinic, run by Venkatesh, similarly provided medical services without the required permits. Another center, the Ganesh First Aid Center run by Bhaskara Chari, offered allopathic procedures under the guise of a first aid facility.
TGMC officials said the operators of these facilities are endangering public health by administering dangerous steroids, painkillers and antibiotic injections without proper knowledge or authorization. The council said it would continue to crack down on illegal medical activity, including the use of fake degrees, unrecognized qualifications and unauthorized scan or echo services.
