At the Maliaparamba intersection in the city, a four -day test run of the newly designed portable control light was successfully completed. According to the traffic police, a product that has designed a company based in Mumbai with technical proposals from the subordinate inspector Manoj Babu is likely to be used in other places.
“The product used for trial operation is now owned by a private contracting company in Kozhikode. Since the court has been a huge success, the police may certainly consider buying their own units for effective traffic control on road construction or accidents,” Mr. Babu said.
The product was brought to the city after a successful court proceedings by the Police Nagpur. The cost of the solar unit, a proposed and produced company owned by an entrepreneur based in Kerala, is around 2.10 lakh and can further decrease with mass production and purchase.
The General Police Inspector (Transport and Road Traffic Management) has already collected the details of the product and its functions by police officers to assess the feasibility of its purchase for the Ministry. According to the police, the officers involved in court proceedings will negotiate before the decision. They added that there is also a proposal to use the road safety fund to buy a unit.
The unit used here was designed to be deployed on single -lane bridges, areas susceptible to accidents, intersections and other places controlled by access. Remarkable functions include charging maximum power monitoring (MPPT), protection against deep battery discharge, short -circuit protection, constant light output and waterproof adaptation.
Police first proposed the use of portable light to control traffic on road construction in 2021.
