Former BCCI cricket administrator Professor Ratnakar Sheetty New Delhi:Ratnakar Shetty, Professor of Chemistry, launched his journey as a cricket manager in 1975 as a cricket employee at the Wilson College Bombai. He then moved via series, from the Bombay Cricket Association tournament committee, and before retirement, head of the Chief Director of the Bombay Cricket Association.
In the fourth episode of Bombay Sport Exchange (BSE), KEKRINIWAS RAO, CONTENT (SPORTS) Head sometimes, he sat down with Professor Ratnakar Shetty. Over the years, the veteran manager has described the growth of Indian cricket, Indian cricket policy, and why BCCi has never been dependent on the Indian government.
Shetty remembers how the BCCI worked before India won the 1983 World Championship and how it was different from the current settings, where the Indian cricket council is running cricket everywhere.
“It started with the office office,” Shetty recalled.
“The Indian cricket club was kind at that time to give space at the Stadium Hudrne, not only BCCI but also other sports. Even in the Bombay cricket Association. BCCI was on the first floor.

Veterans administrator also revealed how cashless bcci worked and why it is impossible to ignore the royal families in the Indian cricket growth.
“The Bcci Was Fortunate, Or Indian Cricket Was Fortunate, to Get the Support of the Royal Families to Start with, Who Funded and Lot of Indian Cricket in Those Days and then Chinnaswamy, Mr.
“There was no money. And you can imagine that two people had been running the cashier in BCCI for 65 years. One was a founded one after which the Iranian trophy was named, and the other was Mr. Chidambarama.” He added.
Who is the IPL player?
Shetta takes a lining on contemporary Indian crickets who earn in millions and remembered how much they got out of that time.
“These days, these days, they are unlikely to realize that it was the days when the test cricket used to be paid 50 rupees a day. The cricket of the ranji Trophy in the first days was paid in the first days.
During the ingenious interview, Professor Shetta also revealed how large teams were thrown by bouts of anger when they were asked to tour for India and why they asked for warranty money before every big tour.
“The only problem that we have to face is what we have to ask west indias, Australia, and england for a tour, we serpent to pay guarantee money in those day to be. is that even the Big Three of the ICC, I AM Not Talking About the Others, But If You Look at Australia and England, Even They Would Like India to Come and Play 5 Test Matches and Have and Long Tour, Reciprocal every 4 years.

Should the crickets more appreciate their earnings compared to earlier players?
“When we traveled in these countries, we spent money. But when we wanted us to go through our country, we had to pay them a certain amount of warranty money. BCCI had to pay and BCCi had to recover from the places that led the test matches these days. That it was, that it was, as it happened, “it was possible that it was, as it happened,” he explained.
Things have changed so much that in 2019–2020 Australia cricket was on the verge of bankruptcy if it did not happen to an Indian tour.
Shetty also touched the topic of BCCI money to award the 1983 World Cup team.
“Mr. NKP Salve (then President Bcci) when he entered the dressing room in Lord after the Indian team won the 1983 World Championship and asked for money for the price, announced £ 1 lakh as a win. The treasurer had to tell him that there was no money he announced.
“If I am not mistaken, around 21 Lakhs, of which 14 are scraps for players plus manager, 15 lakhs were distributed to the World Cup team. And the remaining amount was given by DDCA at that time. This tells you the story of the Indian cricket.”
