The Minister of the External Affairs S. Jaishankar reflected on the deep impact of terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008 on the relationship of India with Pakistan and described it as a key moment when the Indians decided that such behavior from the neighboring country was intolerable.
During the interactive meeting at Charotar University of Science and Technology, Jaishankar stressed that India has undergone a significant transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modim over the last decade, while Pakistan remains unchanged and continues what he called “bad customs”.
Asked why the Indian government rarely discussed Pakistan publicly, Jaishankar explained that there is no need to waste “precious” in the neighboring country.
“India has changed. I wish I could say that Pakistan has changed. Unfortunately, in many ways they continue their bad habits.
On November 26, 2008, the group of 10 Pakistani terrorists began attacks in more places in Mumbai and killed 166 people in a nearly 60 -hour siege.
In the veiled Jibe in the UPA government led by Congress, which was in power in 2008, Jaishankar said, “I think the feeling was very strong in society, but at that time it may not fully understand the government, which is another matter”.
Rajya Sabha also said that after 2014, when the government changed, Pakistan received a solid message that if terrorist acts were committed, he would have consequences, he said.
“During this period we grew economically and politically and our position in the world has improved. But Pakistan continued his old book,” he said.
Jaishankar said that Pakistan is also trying to get some of the conflict in Afghanistan when the US and NATO were there.
“Pakistan played a double game. It was both with the Taliban and the other side. But when the Americans left, the double game could not be maintained.
“Regardless of the fact that they got out of a double game that also dropped. Moreover, the terrorist industry that promoted was returned to bite them,” he added.
He said that while India has risen to a higher level, the terrorism brand stuck to them (Pakistan).
“Our brand is technology today. This is a difference. We will answer if terrorism occurs, but why should I spend precious time on them?” He asked the minister.
