Family and friends often asked Sushil Nathaniel for advice, says his younger brother Vikas Nathaniel as he describes him as a “family guard”. Mr. Sushil, the inhabitants of Indore Madhya Pradesh, was among the 26 people shot in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam.
The head of the Life Insurance Corporation in Alirajpur, 58, Mr. Sush, 58, traveled to J&K April 19 for holidays with his wife Jennifer, 54, daughter Akanksha, 32 years old, who also suffered bullets in the leg and son Austen, 27.
Mortal remains of Mr. Sushil and his family arrived at Indore Airport around 20:30, where the CM Yadav met them and paid his honor.
“Only a few family members went to the airport because the body will be brought according to the protocol. We are all waiting at home,” said Suresh Luniya, close friend of childhood Mr. Sushil.

Mr. Sushil’s father, Jerald Nathaniel, 85, a retirement employee, and also mourns over the demise of his eldest son.
“When our father was old and well unfortunate, my brother was as a family guard,” Mr. Vikas said.
Luniya said he was in constant contact with Austen on the phone, but “he had no courage to talk to Jennifer Bhabhi”.
“Our families are very close, but I don’t know what to tell her. Akanksha is unable to walk at the moment. I just asked Austen to take care of them,” he said, adding that he avoided the tragedy with them through the phone.
“Austen is also an emotional person, so I don’t bring the incident. We are all for them,” he added.
He describes his friend’s family as well -educated and progressive thinking. Mrs. Jennifer is a teacher of the government school in Indore, while Mrs. Akanksha is the head of the Bank of Baroda branch in Gujarat’s Surrat and Mr. Austen is a state player at state level.
“He was sent in Alirajpura about two years ago and his colleagues also loved him. He always remained in connection with his friends and had a cheerful nature,” he said.
Mr. Sushil, a native of Jobot in Alirajpur, moved to Indore about 30 years ago and currently lived in the Veena Nagar area in the city.
Meanwhile, Jemma Nathaniel, the wife of Mr. Vikas, said that terrorists asked their religion and asked him to present verses from the Islamic script.
“He probably sensed something wrong, and asked his wife to hide. They made him knelt and ask his religion and told him to present Kalma. When he said he was a Christian, they shot him,” she said.
The main minister of MEP Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences of the demise of Mr. Sushil and said he would visit Indore to offer tribute to his deadly remains and meet his family.
At the beginning of the day, the collector of Indore Ashish Singh visited relatives of the victim and assured them with full help from the administration.
