
Terrorist attack PAHALGAM: The day after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, travel reservations from different parts of India reportedly recorded a dramatic decline. Up to 90 percent of the hilly state travel reserves were canceled due to security concerns, PTI reported, referring to travel agencies based on Delhi.

Almost 25 people canceled their reservations for their Kashmir trip, said Gaurav Rathi, owner of Swan Travelers, a press agency.
Rathi also said that most tourists who were planning to visit Kashmir next month were abolishing their reservations. The report also stressed that there were some tourists who have currently negotiated to change their plans for some alternative goals.
“We had several reservations from families. From bus and air tickets to hotels – everything was booked in advance. But at the moment when the report on the terrorist attack broke, we began to receive calls for cancellation,” said Dev, owner Kusha Travels.

Kartik Verma, a travel agency from the Good Guide Tours and Travels, stressed that some people were asking for a refund and stated that they could not risk their loved ones, recently subject to a terrorist attack.
“We had more than 20 reservations for Kashmir this month and next month, but almost all were canceled indefinitely,” said Verma The News Portal.
Many other travel agencies have also quoted concerns that some reservations, such as flight tickets and hotel reservations, are irreversible and create “real mess” for tourist agencies.
Other flights from Srinagar
Spicejet was among the other two domestic carriers who announced other flights from Srinagar on Wednesday 23rd.
Spicejet spokesman announced that the company is expanding its resignation by a politician overparting and canceling the flight of departure and landing at Srinagar Airport.
This extension of the exemption shall be used for all reservations made by April 22 or earlier and the offer will be valid until April 30.

“With regard to the recent tragedy in Pahalgam, Spicejet expands exceptions about overparting and canceling for and from Srinagar, valid until April 30, 2025.
The company also announced that April 23 will operate another flight between Srinagar and Delhi.
In addition to Spicejet, Air India and Indigo announced other flights for passengers on Wednesday.

“With regard to the prevailing situation, Air India will operate two more years from Srinagar to Delhi and Bombai on Wednesday 23rd April,” the airline said in a contribution to the Social Media at X.
Post mentioned that Air India operated for two years, the first of Srinagar to Delhi at 11:30 and the second from Srinagar to Bombai at 12:00, according to post 23 April.
“Air India also offers free overparting and full compensation for cancellations with confirmed reservations up to April 30, 2025 in these sectors,” the company said.
The Indigo low -cost carrier also announced two more flights from Srinagar, according to their travel counseling published on Wednesday.
