The military solution is not a “no solution” for conflict in India-Pakistan, said the UN Secretary General (UNSG), Antonio Guterres, called for “maximum restrictions” and offer to help in any way to reduce the tension between the two countries. Mr. Guterres, who called Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the terrorist attack Pahalgam, repeated his conviction for killing 26 men and said he was in contact with both countries. He said that civilians’ targeting was “unacceptable” and those who are responsible must be brought to court by “trusted and legal means”.
In one of his strongest statements, however, he warned that both countries must avoid military confrontation, which he said could easily “get out of control” and describe tension from the attack of Pahalgam as the “highest in years” and achieve “boiling point”.

“Now is the time to maximize and retreat from the brink. This was my message in my continuing reach with both countries. Do not make a mistake, there is no solution, and I offer my good offices to both government in peace,” Guterres said in a statement in New York on Monday).
“The United Nations is ready to promote any initiative that promotes de-schooling, diplomacy and a renewed commitment to peace,” he added.
Unsc meeting
The UN Secretary General came up, although the UN Security Council members were to organize a “closed door” meeting on a situation where Pakistan is present as a current member. After the UN resolution of the last month, which was irrigated in the Pakistan case, the Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar spoke with all the other unstable members of the UNSC, including Greece, chaired by Unsc this month.
Mr. Guterres’ statement came to the heels of many statements from other countries that demanded de-acadiness and diplomacy, because Mr. Modi met military chiefs to discuss the possible strategy to respond to panelgam attacks. In the briefing for foreign envoy, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the attack had “cross -border links”, while the Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh accused Pakistan directly for the terrorist organizations “Support, Training and Financing”.
However, several countries, including the US, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the European Union, issued a statement to consulting and avoid a wider conflict. On Monday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim issued a statement after a call with Prime Minister Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, who canceled his visit to Malaysia in the middle of the growing tension offering mediation between India and Pakistan, with “narrow ties”, and hoped with rapid de-combat voltage “. “They are on the run”, and both attack ”, and that there is a tension, both of them.
Mea did not respond to requests for comments on the UNSG statement and to a statement by the Prime Minister of the Prime Minister.
In the commentary, which is assumed that it is focused on these counseling restrictions and dialogue, Mr. Jaishankar said on Sunday that India is looking for “partners” and not for “preachers” in anticipation in general and especially in Europe.
