Tennis legend Roger Federer was named the official starter for 93. Edition 24 hours of Le Mans, one of the most famous Motorsport events. The race will take place on June 14, 2025 on the historic Sarthe circuit in northwest France, where Federer will have the honor of waving the flag to start the race at 16:00 local time.
Every year, the Automobile Club de L’Aoest (ACO) selects a prominent international character that will start a world famous endurance race. Last year, this privilege won the French football icon Zinedine Zidane. This year, Federer’s turn is to bring his own touch to the start line-co-jerk that would associate sports perfection with emotional resonance.
“It will be a huge privilege to welcome Roger Federer as an official starter of 24 hours of Le Mans,” said President ACO Pierre Fillon. “His impact goes far beyond tennis. Roger is not just a champion, but a symbol of elegance, humility and quality of durability that reflects the independent spirit of Le Mans.”
Federer, who left with 20 Grand Slam titles and a record of 310 weeks as World No. 1, was humiliated by the invitation. “It is a great honor to be asked to start 24 hours of Le Mans, such an iconic and demanding race,” he said. “I have always fascinated the commitment, accuracy and durability to compete here. Being part of this special is a remarkable experience.”
His presence continues in the long -term tradition of Le Mans the invitation of global cultural and sports icons to open the race. He is now part of this legacy with Federer, the excitement around this year’s edition has just grown.
Recent races have seen Ferrari dominate, while Swiss drivers like Sbastien Buemi, Neel Jani and Marcel FSSler all tasted victory in Le Mans-Furter and deepened the Swiss connection with the event this year.
As fans all over the world prepare for the flag to drop, Federer’s involvement promises that this year’s Le Mans will be even more unforgettable.
