TGREDOC VC & MD Sri Musharraf Faruqui inspects the site for setting up electric vehicle charging station in the Secretariat premises.
Pre-bid meetings were held on Monday for the establishment/operation, maintenance, upgrading and commercial management of 369 public EV charging stations in Telangana.
Establishing or maintaining the infrastructure is critical because the state ranks fourth in the nation in electricity consumption at EV charging stations, and the number of EVs continues to grow.
₹13 plus GST
Of the 369 charging stations, 200 are in the limits of Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations and the remaining 169 are in the erstwhile districts of Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad. The billing rate has been fixed at ₹ 13 per unit plus GST. The customer tariff remains valid for the duration of the contract, according to the press release.
The process is part of an initiative by the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TG REDCO) to invite private charging point operators (CPOs) for tenders for setting up/operating and other activities. In and around Hyderabad, where EV charging stations have been developed by TG REDCO, the selected CPOs would be responsible for operation, maintenance, modernization and business management, with a contract period of 10 years. Measures have been taken to ensure at least 95% serviceability of chargers within the city limits.
At 169 public charging stations under the jurisdiction of TGNPDCL in five erstwhile districts, the CPOs will be responsible for survey, design, supply, civil works, installation, testing and commissioning for a period of 10 years in addition to operations and maintenance. Eligible applicants will also be provided with a subsidy in accordance with the applicable conditions under the PM E-DRIVE program.
TG REDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui said the state has considerable strategic geographical importance. Several national highways and major transport corridors pass through the state, leading to significant interstate travel and freight movement.
