A fight broke out between two families over alleged dumping of sand in SC Rajam Mandal Colony in Vizianagaram district, resulting in injuries to as many as ten persons.
According to the Rajam police, one family accused the other of dumping sand bought for the construction of a house in the middle of the street and countered that it was blocking the road. This led to a heated argument between the families, which further escalated into a full-fledged street brawl, police said, adding that both families used sticks and sharp objects during the fight.
After reaching the spot, the police shifted the injured persons to the Rajam Government Hospital. Policemen were deployed in the village to maintain peace.
