Chintakayala assembly president Ayyanna Patrudu addressed the Third World Telugu Conference in Guntur district on Saturday.
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu on Saturday said that Telugu is more than just a language and described it as the cornerstone of a vibrant culture and way of life.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Third World Telugu Conference, organized under the aegis of Andhra Saraswata Parishad at the spiritual town of Sri Sathya Sai near Amaravati in Guntur district, the speaker said Telugu culture is deeply intertwined with the daily life, customs, festivals and social interactions of its speakers. He said that language served as a medium through which shared values, traditions and collective identity were expressed and preserved.
Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu expressed concern that the younger generation was gradually losing touch with traditional customs and practices, recalling that in the past mothers fed their children by pointing at the moon, while today children were often fed by pointing at mobile phones. He urged parents to take responsibility for helping children imbibe cultural traditions and values.
Recalling the invaluable contribution of late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao to the promotion of Telugu, the speaker said that NT Rama Rao had brought global recognition to the Telugu identity. The political party he founded enabled many ordinary people to enter public life, he added.
Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu emphasized the importance of imparting education in the mother tongue at the primary level and urged the scholars participating in the conference to adopt a resolution on measures necessary for the development of Telugu.
The event was attended by judges, literary scholars and Telugu enthusiasts.
