Tele Manas Line, a free program assistance on Mental Health 24/7, launched by the Indian government throughout the country, has released a program that would coordinate the District Mental Health Program (DMHP) in various Karnataka districts to “close a mental health gap”.

Meanwhile, the project manager for Tele Manas, E-Health Research Center, IIIT, Bengaluru, Archna Kartik, described Tele Manas as a digital arm of DMHP. The purpose is to serve as “first aid” for people in need who are unable to physically use the help of mental health, she said.
Since Karnataka has been 1.3 Lakh calls from the total number of so far a total of 24 lakh calls since Tele Manas started in October 2022. In Karnataka, there are TELE Manas units from Bengalur and Dharwad, where 20 Radců in each center, a total of 40, participates in calls not in exchange. “In both centers, about 500 calls participate every day. Sound calls will be converted to video calls if necessary,” said Mrs. Archana.
Tele Manas has now noted an increase in calls all over the country and received anywhere between 3,500 and 5,000 calls a day in 20 different languages from people who face various mental health problems.
While calls from 18 years have increased, most telephone calls are accepted from people aged 18 to 45, with complaints from insomnia, not marrying, financial problems and stress of exams, she said.
The Tele Manas team will be in Mysur on Friday as part of the Information Education and Communication Activity (IEC).
While Nimhans operates this line of help and free consultation is provided for various mental health problems, the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-B) provides technical support for this line.
