During her recent visit to New Delhi, she invited Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to attend the Medaram Biennial Jatara scheduled for January 2026 and explain its cultural and spiritual significance. Jatara is the “largest tribal choir” of Asia.
Places earmarked for development
In detailed submissions to the Union Tourism Minister, the Minister and MLA Mulugu sought funds for the integrated development of the Mallur temple, the planned upgradation of the Jampanna vagu embankment in Medaram and the promotion of the Bogatha falls.
Malluran Temples
Seethakka sought ₹50 crore for the Mallur temple, a centuries-old shrine on the hills near the Godavari river in Mulugu district.
Stating that the temple attracts pilgrims from all over Telangana and neighboring states but lacks infrastructure, basic amenities, transport connectivity and security facilities, she suggested that the project should be taken up under PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) or other schemes like Swadesh Darshan 2.0, destination development, rural development and tourism development, she said would help the Triballu Cluster of the Tribalcu to protect the heritage while promoting rural employment and ecotourism.
Jampanna Vagu River Embankment
It also sought ₹28 crore for the embankment development of the Jampanna Vaga, a sacred tributary of the Godavari river associated with the legend of Sammakka-Saralamma. She sought support under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, PRASHAD and Eco-Cultural Tourism schemes to create a sustainable and culturally sensitive waterfront.
Bogatha Falls
In another proposal, she urged the Center to allocate ₹30 crore for Bogatha Falls, popularly known as the ‘Niagara of Telangana’. A waterfall located in Wazeed mandal. The minister said the project will focus on sustainable tourism, improving the livelihood of tribals and preserving the fragile forest ecosystem. She applied for funding under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, PRASHAD scheme and eco-tourism development initiatives.
Ms. Seethakka requested that technical teams be deputed for site inspections and feasibility assessments for all the three projects. She assured that Telangana government will provide administrative support, ensure availability of land and coordinate implementation through Panchayat Raj and Tourism departments.
