NEET PG students from Telangana have expressed concern over the ongoing postgraduate medical counseling process and urged the authorities to intervene immediately to prevent what they describe as injustice to the state’s candidates.
According to the students, the issue was first raised on December 15 when statements were made to the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA), after which ongoing follow-up with the concerned authorities was initiated. Based on the latest information shared with the students, the reporting dates for Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) 1st round counseling are likely to be extended, with an official announcement expected soon. At the same time, the All India Quota (AIQ) registration portal was opened and it will remain active till 20th December.
T-JUDA expressed its appreciation to the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and KNRUHS for recognizing the interests of the students and taking steps to streamline the counseling process.
But students say a key issue remains unresolved. Several candidates from Telangana have secured post graduate seats through AIQ Round 1 counselling. The state seat matrix and counseling schedule was not released by KNRUHS during the period when the AIQ resignation window was opened and subsequently extended. This created uncertainty and prevented many from resigning their AIQ seats within the stipulated time.
After Telangana State Round 1 Counseling Results declared, many of these students got seats in better and more preferred institutions in the state. Now they cannot join these places because the AIQ resignation portal has been closed. With the last date for reporting currently set at December 18, students say they are facing intense stress, confusion and academic uncertainty.
The affected students appealed for the immediate reopening of the AIQ resignation window by the MCC and extension of the joining and reporting deadlines by the Telangana State PG so that they are not denied admission due to procedural delays beyond their control.
