
The Telangana government constituted a high-level committee to identify “Telangana Udyamakarulu” (Those who sacrificed during the Telangana agitation) who participated in various phases of the Telangana statehood movement and recommend suitable measures to honor their contributions and sacrifices.
The committee will be headed by Advisor to the Government on Public Relations and Education K. Keshava Rao. Other members include Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC M. Kodandaram, MLC and Government Whip Addanki Dayakar, former MLC S. Ramulu Naik and Mothe Shoban Reddy.
The Committee will be convened by the Secretary to the Government (Political), Department of General Administration. A government order states that several activists were martyred during the agitation, while many others suffered injuries, faced criminal charges and were imprisoned during the movement.
The panel was tasked with developing criteria for identifying Telangana movement activists, preparing a complete list of eligible persons and recommending the type of recognition, honours, courtesy and facilities to be given to them.
The government decree stated that the committee will have the authority to summon officials, obtain information and meet with the affected persons and departments as part of the meeting. The committee was directed to submit its report as soon as possible.
