Mango farmers in Telangana they hoped to make good profits when their orchards were full of flowers this January. However, as the harvest season approaches, they estimate a modest 10-20% mango yield.
Jagtial, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool areas of the state are prominent for mango orchards. Farmers from the district confirmed estimates of low yields and said they will not make any money from the orchards this year. They said Himayat and Benishan varieties bore most of the damage.
