Telangana housing department assistant engineer Durgam Srikanth, who was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday for allegedly accepting bribe, has been dismissed from his job, department secretary VP Gautham said.
Srikanth, employed on an outsourcing basis, took a bribe from a beneficiary of the Indiramma Housing scheme to upload photos of an under-construction house on the portal.
Financial assistance of ₹ 5 lakh is paid to the beneficiaries of the scheme in installments after completion of basement, construction of walls, laying of slab and completion. For billing, it is necessary to upload photos of the house in various stages of construction.
Mr. Gautham reiterated that if the official refuses to upload the photos, the beneficiaries of the scheme can upload them on the Indiramma Indlu app. After logging in, the ‘Capture stage wise photos’ option will be available. It will show different stages of house construction like grounding, basement and more. Photos need to be uploaded accordingly.
Mr. Gautham said strict action would be taken against anyone indulging in corruption and would demand bribes from the beneficiaries. People can file complaints on the housing ministry’s toll-free number 1800 599 5991.
