Telangana High Court grants conditional bail to Bandi Sai Bageerath in POCSO case

The Telangana High Court on Thursday granted conditional bail to Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union State Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Bageerath was granted bail after 51 days in judicial custody at Cherlapally Central Jail after he was arrested by the Cyberabad police on May 16.

The High Court ordered him to furnish a personal bond of ₹ 1 lakh with two sureties. It also ordered him to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, appear before the Petbasheerabad station officer twice a week, refrain from influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence and not leave Telangana without the court’s permission.

The case was registered on May 8 after the mother of the minor girl filed a complaint that her daughter was sexually assaulted by the accused. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
