On Sunday (March 30, 2025), he received the first award named after Assam Jadav Payeng, a green activist, known as “Forest Man of India”, received the first award named after Assam’s Jadav Payeng, based on the water in Telangana, M. Karunakar Reddy.
In November 2024, Jyoti-Protap Education Trust announced the International PayEng International Award, which had 2 lakh 2 lakh, citation and memento. The prize was awarded at the Jyoti-Protap Gyanmarg Biadyalay, a charity school led by confidence in Kaliaipan in the Jorhat district, about 330 km east of Guwahati.
Mr. Reddy said that receiving the price in the name of “live legend” was similar to winning the Nobel Prize.
“He (Mr. Payeng) continued to grow trees throughout his life without expecting any award or honor. He did it for his inner satisfaction, but it makes the world sustainable. Payeng is one of the many uninhabited heroes in the sustainable development of Earth,” he said.
Mr. Reddy said that the water crisis was a global problem as a result of climate change, he said that the solution was based on people. He encouraged everyone to plant the trees, did not use water and used it again.
“India has 20% of the global population, but only 4% of the world’s resources. We need to measure and drive this disparity correctly,” he said.
Trust Education Trust Jyoti-Protap said that Mr. Reddy pioneer for water protection and control, restoration and foresters of land, assistance in disasters, food safety and climate change awareness.
“We introduced the prize named Jadav Payeng after we noticed that it was an inspiration for all. Mr. Reddy was selected by a five -member selection commission for tireless work for water protection,” Saikia, secretary of the confidence and founder of the digital smart school.
Mr. Payeng planted and took care of the trees for 550 hectare sandstones in the Brahmaputra River and turned it into a forest reserve. Sandbar is in the Jorhat district.
“This award motivated me to work more for society. I saw Reddy-Ji help people. He deserved this award,” Mr. Payeng said.
