The CEO of the police, Telangana Jitender, reviewed the review of weapons issued in the State focusing on outdated permits, inactive licenses and illegal firearms.
At a meeting held on Friday (May 23), DGP published that Telangana had 7 125 weapons licenses and 9,294 registered weapons. In the last three years, however, only 510 new licenses have been issued, indicating the slowdown of new approval. DGP Jitender ordered the Commissioners and Police guards to explore the licenses that came into an unfavorable warning.
He identified several categories for inspection, including licenses granted to athletes who no longer arise in competitions, those who did not buy weapons, despite the license, individuals who have weapons but did not hold ammunition in years, and those whose licenses disappeared or whose weapons lied unused in the estate.
“When it comes to the movement of illegal weapons, zero tolerance policy must be followed,” he added.
The meeting was attended by higher police officers, including ADGP (Law and Order) Malesh M. Bhagwat, CP Rachakonda G. Sudheer Babu, IGP MZ-I Chandra Sekhar Reddy and other top officials from Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Jogulamba districts.
