Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed Director General of Police CV Anand to ensure that the movement of the public is not disrupted during the movement of his convoy or that of other dignitaries across the state.
The direction came after the chief minister took serious note of the traffic jam near the airport on Wednesday while he was traveling to Delhi. He tasked the officials to ensure that people are not made to wait on the roads for a long time due to the arrangement of convoys.
The Chief Minister directed the DGP to initiate action against the officials responsible for the non-compliance and stressed that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be stopped unnecessarily.
DGP is holding a video conference
As directed, the DGP held a video conference with police officers of the rank of sub-inspector and above from the law and order department and traffic departments across state commissionerates.

During the review, Mr. Anand said that the repeated concern expressed by the Chief Minister highlighted the seriousness of the problem and asked the field officers to regulate traffic in a rational manner instead of completely stopping the movement of vehicles during convoy passes.
He said that a dedicated Traffic Bureau headed by an Additional DGP would soon be set up to strengthen traffic management across the state, the modalities of which were currently being finalised.
The DGP also directed officials to pre-arrange alternative traffic routes, especially during peak hours, and ensure increased vigilance around the airport.
In view of the approaching monsoon season, officers have been instructed to take proactive steps to prevent water stagnation and subsequent traffic congestion.
The DGP also made it clear that illegal parking on the Outer Ring Road will not be tolerated and directed law and order officials to work in coordination with the traffic police and other agencies for effective traffic regulation. Senior police officials, including the commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri, participated in the video conference.
