Telangana ACB has arrested Chief Accountant Achampeta for accepting ₹25,000 bribe

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, October 6, arrested the chief accountant of the sub-divisional revenue office at Achampet in Nagarkurnool district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 to clear medical leave and related bills and allowances of a government employee.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, K. Venkataiah, allegedly demanded ₹25,000 from the complainant for showing him an official favour. The complainant initially paid ₹3,000 in cash on 14 August. The remaining ₹22,000 was subsequently transferred to the accused through PhonePe on 18 August.

A case of criminal misconduct was registered against Venkataiah and he was produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.

The ACB has urged the public to report bribery claims by civil servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through ACB’s WhatsApp number 9440446106 and its social media platforms.
