A day after Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar called on Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya to share his action plan against the proposed tunnel road project to ease traffic congestion in Bengaluru, Mr Surya on Sunday said he had sought time to present his ideas to tackle vehicular traffic.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Surya said, “I have long advocated sustainable solutions to Bengaluru’s problems. As a resident of this city, it is my duty to support good ideas as much as it is my duty to resist band-aids that hardly address the core problem.”
He emphasized that a two-pronged approach is needed to resolve Bengaluru’s long-pending challenges. “He (Mr Shivakumar) is a senior politician and administrator who intends to do the best for the city. I hope this discussion will help us find sustainable solutions and work together to make the city a better place to live while addressing its major challenges,” he said.
Clarifying that this was not a political rivalry, Mr Surya said it was not between him and the Deputy Chief Minister, but rather about the city and what was best for Bengaluru.
“If the tunnel road project is really beneficial, then why are the experts raising objections? I have asked Mr. Shivakumar for some time to present his action plan,” he said.
