A 14-year-old boy died after falling into a well while trying to retrieve a soccer ball in Kannur on Friday morning (May 8).
The deceased was identified as TP Muhammad, a student of IX. of GHSS classes, Koyyam. The accident happened around eight in the morning when the children were playing football. The ball accidentally fell into a nearby well, after which Muhammad climbed down into the well to retrieve it.
According to witnesses, the boy lost his grip halfway through and fell into the well. He is said to have suffered serious injuries in the fall. Although he was taken to hospital, he could not be saved.
