The possibility of using prefabricated concrete structures is examined to restore almost 200 meters of the remaining section of the Mullassery channel between the Chittoor and MG Road under the “breakthrough of the operation”.
The small irrigation department is heading over such an option to avoid extensive mg road excavations and leave it open for almost a month, which is not possible with regard to the versatile problems it can cause. The aim is to bring it to the site to prepare for the installation of concrete, install them on short sections and immediately covered the dug area.
Given that fortified pre -winging concrete structures require higher costs, but may be taken into account possible costless escalation. Out of the total cost of the 12 Crore project, approximately 8 crore has been completed so far. There are interviews with more agencies, including Keraral Water Authority, KSEB, Kochi Metro Rail Limited and Kochi Corporation to perform restoration work on the remaining section of the canal without damaging its infrastructure, sources in the smaller irrigation department said.
Since the usual method of excavation that requires extended road closure does not have to be viable on MG road, more sophisticated methods such as prefabricated technology are examined, although only the monitoring committee will be taken by the district collector. Instead of side runoffs along the section, cross drains may be preferred, as the first would require a shift of numerous instruments leading to further delay, adding resources.
The complete impact of working on the renewal of the Mullasse channel in the solution of inundation would not grab only after the remaining section is completed, as this is decisive for ensuring smooth water flow. Out of the total of 829 meters, the channel claimed that the irrigation department had completed 625 meters restoration. The section between the Chittoor Road and MG Road remains to be restored.
Mullassery’s renewal has already been delayed disproportionately and, on more than one occasion, attracted the reprimand of the Keral High Court. In February, the High Court ordered the authorities to complete the renewal work within three months. The meeting, chaired by the Mayor of M. Anilkucar in January and took part in the then district collector, reviewed the breakthrough of the operation – a project aimed at solving the inundation in Kochi – and issued an irrigation department to complete the work on the canal.
