President of Jamm and the Kashmiro National Conference (JKNC) Farooq Abdullah said on June 10 that train services to Kashmir, launched by Narendra Modim last week, will be beneficial for local residents and tourists.
“I am very happy to travel on this train today. It was the biggest advantage for us,” said Abdullah, accompanied by several colleagues from the side of the Srinagar-Katra train Vande Bharat.
Abdullah arrived at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station after traveling aboard the Vande Bharat train from the NOWGAM station (Srinagar). In an interview with reporters, the NC chief said his eyes “tear” after the train crossed the Chenab bridge.
“This is the greatest gift to join Jammu and Kashmir with the whole country … When I crossed the Chenab bridge, I had tears in my eyes. Finally came the day we can travel to the country by train. I want to congratulate all workers and engineers who built this bridge …” said.
The highest bridge in the world, a bridge on the Chenab River, is a milestone for Indian railways. It was completed after several rise and falls in difficult terrain. The bridge connects Kashmir with Jammu and the whole country over the railway. “Mata not Blay HAI,” said former trade union minister.
“Reliable Transport Connection”
Abdullah said that a train that connects Kashmir with the rest of India will be a reliable transport connection for the inhabitants of the valley.
“The road (between Srinagar and Jammu) sometimes closes and the airlines start to flee people by raising prices. People will be saved with this train,” he said.
When I crossed the Chenab bridge, I had tears in my eyes. Finally, the day came when we can travel to the country from Kashmir by train.
Abdullah said that the railway connection will also benefit the gardening sector in Kashmir, as the production will achieve markets faster. “It will also be beneficial tourists attending Kashmir,” he added.
