The triumphant Indian women’s cricket team, fresh from winning their first ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on the evening of November 4, 2025 to a warm but controlled welcome.
The squad – led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and coach Amol Muzumdar – arrived on a chartered flight (S5-8328) from Mumbai under heightened security via the General Aviation Terminal. Media crews were present but deliberately avoided large public gatherings.
The players were welcomed with a ceremony at their team hotel tilakgarlands performed by members of the blind association, rhythmic beats by the women themselves go group from Nashik and a gentle shower of flower petals – a gesture that captured the nation’s pride without the frenzy of a street parade.
India clinched the historic title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 2 November 2025. While the celebrations were exuberant, no formal victory parade took place. Instead, the team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence on November 5 for a ceremonial function.
The homecoming embodied both grandeur and restraint – a fitting tribute to a side that redefined the landscape of women’s sports in India.
