Teacher suspended after student breaks arm in alleged beating
A mathematics teacher at MSM High School, Kallingalparamba, has been suspended after he was accused of breaking the arm of a fifth standard student by beating her with a cane for allegedly being inattentive in class.
The school management suspended teacher Balraj, a native of Vadakara, after he was arrested on a complaint filed by the child’s parents.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred in a classroom on Friday (July 10, 2026) when the teacher allegedly beat the female student with a cane and broke her arm.
The child’s mother claimed that neither the teacher nor the school arranged for medical treatment. Instead, the teachers reportedly took the injured student home. Her parents later took her to the hospital, where doctors treated her fracture and put her arm in a cast.
The family also filed a complaint with the State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, where they claim that the corporal punishment is excessive. Police said a case is pending against the teacher.
School principal K. Abdul Jaleel and PTA president Maqbool P. said the school would not protect the teacher and would cooperate with the investigation. Management has reportedly suspended him until further notice.
