Police interacting with the public before the MPP elections on Wednesday in Ramagiri in the district of Sri Satya Sai.
The district police Sri Satya Sai deployed other forces at the headquarters of the mandala on Wednesday, after the clashes between the Telugu Desam (TDP) and the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), before the President of Mandal Parisad (MPP) and Sarpanch representatives on Thursday.
The Police Superintendent (SP) V. Ratna warned warring groups to keep them away from the trouble and failed that the perpetrators would be prosecuted.
The tension clasped the city of Ramagiri after the activists from both sides resulted in attacking each other with sticks and iron rods. Sudden development led to damage to several vehicles and injuries to people on both sides. The tense situation, however, was under control after SP sent the armed forces of Ramagiri, who plunged into action and suppressed crowds. Mrs. Ratna, along with the representative of Dharmavaram SP, rushed to Ramagiri to assess the situation. Police confiscated some vehicles carrying sticks and rods and reportedly belonged to YSRCP.
Immediately after the clashes, the police deployed section 144 throughout the district of Sri Satya Sai to prevent illegal assembly. The police also caused the police law 30 to ensure the peace behavior of Thursday’s elections for three MPP chairs in Ramagiri, Roddam and Gandpet, along with two Sarpanch representatives in Penukon and Madakasira.
SP stated that for effective control over law and order in the whole district, supervision of drones and monitoring of CCTV will be deployed. She called on political parties and the public to cooperate with the police and to protect the principles of democracy.
