Taxi driver booked for absconding with passenger’s ₹60,000 after fare dispute

A taxi driver was booked for allegedly taking a woman passenger to a deserted stretch near Kothwalgud on the outskirts of Shamshabad and absconding with a bag containing ₹60,000 after a dispute over the fare on Saturday.

A 38-year-old woman, a resident of Nalgonda district, hired a cab in Jadcherla to travel to Hyderabad around 6 pm.

According to her complaint, after reaching Shamshabad, the driver offered to drop her at Gachibowli for an additional ₹50. She agreed and continued on her way.

After crossing the Tondupally toll gate, the driver reportedly stopped near a dispensary on the ORR service road saying that he needed to purchase medicines.

Around 9 pm, he allegedly drove towards a deserted stretch near Kothwalgud, where he grabbed her bag containing ₹60,000 and fled.

The woman subsequently approached the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police, who registered a case under Sections 74, 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the driver.
