Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught Tanuku Town police station writer KV Subba Rao red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from the complainant.
The accused lead writer has been arrested and will be produced in the ACB court in Rajahmundry, ACB officials.
The station writer claimed that the inspector demanded 30,000 to change the non-bailable case to that of the complainant, while the inspector claimed that he made no such demand.
The accused later settled for ₹25,000 and was arrested while receiving the amount at a police station in West Godavari district, investigators said.
Department secretary trapped
In another case, ACB officials caught Ganesh, administrative secretary of Nehru Nehru Sachivalayam ward, Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, while accepting a bribe of ₹16,000 from a person. The accused demanded money for processing the request to change the name on the tax document. Acting on a complaint, ACB officers from Visakhapatnam Range have arrested Ganesh and will produce him before an ACB court.
