Tamim, who left the international cricket in January 2025, was led by Mohammedan Sporting Club in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match against the cricket club Shinepukur when he experienced the discomfort of chest immediately after throwing. Initially he was transported to the local hospital, but later collapsed, which caused an urgent operation of angioplasty on Monday.

On Friday, four days after the incident, Tamim was released and took Facebook to express his emotions.
“According to all your prayers, I’m at home now,” he wrote in Bangle. “In these four days I discovered my surroundings when I found a new life. The whole realization has only love and gratitude. I got your love during my career. But now I felt even more intense. I’m really impressed.”
He also expanded his deep recognition to medical experts, hospitals, supporting staff and good friends. In particular, he thanked the coach Yakub Chowdhury Dalim, whose timely CPR was essential in saving his life.
“How to thank our coach Yakubu Chowdhury Dalim Bhai, I really do not know. I learned later, specialized doctors said I would not be saved if Dalim Bhai did not give CPR at that time,” he wrote.

Tamim acknowledged that his way to full healing was still long and demanded prayers for himself and his family.
Tamim played 387 matches across Bangladesh formats and accumulated 15 192 runs, including 25 centuries. He is the Bangladeshi second highest running shooter in an international cricket, for only Mushfiqur Rahim.
