
Tamil translation of the prominent ecologist Prof. Madhava Gadgila’s Autobiography and Walk Up The Hill: Living with Peopleand Nature was launched on Thursday in Chennai.
The book was published in 2023 and was written in the form of memory that included stories and episodes with which prof. During his long years of field surveys in various hotspots of biodiversity throughout India, Gadgil has encountered Gadgil, including Western Ghats.
Gadgil, who talked to the audience through a video conference from Pune, remembered his long connection with Tamil Nadu, which began in 1973 when he began working in Nilgiris and then in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. It was also entrusted with the preparation of the report on the Nilgiris biosphere reserve. He expressed happiness that the book was translated in Tamilia after it was made available in Marathi, Konkani, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Bengal languages. He said it would allow deeper penetration of his thoughts and thoughts between people across these states.
The Tamil translation, which was brought by Tamil over the textbook company, was performed by N. Manoharan, Professor Tamil, who left Chittur Government College in Palakkad. V. Arivudai Zambi, an independent biological diversity expert who performed a scientific editing of the publication, said the book had several chapters on various topics in which a large number of his scientific publications were available in Open Source. The content of the book should be considered a starting point for deeper immersion in problems and topics. He stated the examples, said the book had chapters on sacred groves, forms of nomadic and pastorals and bamboo management, which the author wrote extensively in the form of scientific works.
A. Sathish, Associate Professor Tamil, the International Institute of Tamil Studies, which conducted a language for publication, said the book dwelt on the basic issue of development, which included the participation of the community. He said that the creation of policy in protection should be preceded by a pilot study to check the feasibility before enlargement.
On this occasion they also spoke Shankara Saravanan, a common director, Tamil over the textbook Corporation and RJ Ranjit Daniels, founder of the administrator, Careearth Trust.
