Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi repeated on Friday a strong opposition to the state government against the recent amendments to the WAQF Act (amendment) 2025 and described it as “anti-cum and anti-mental”.
Here he spoke in a protest organized by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and demanded withdrawal of recent changes to the WAQF law.
The protest was led by the vice -chairman of the IUML district Meinlabudeen. The protest was attended by the protest of the district district district of OS Ibrahim and district secretary DMK Makkal Needhi Maiam District District Secretary N. Gowthan, State Secretary of Congress Navasath, Manitaneya Makkal Katchi Os Ibrahim and Minister of District Secretary Makkal Needhi Maiam Syed Anas.
Mr. Malesh said: “The changes were brought specifically to targeting Muslims. Tamil over the main Minister MK Stalin stood as a minority shield. Therefore, the State Assembly adopted a special resolution against the bill.”
“While many states have decided to remain quiet, Tamil raised his voice over the protest. We stand with you and ask you to stand with us,” he added.
