The Supreme Court on Friday (April 10, 2026) refused to intervene for a woman whose name was deleted from the electoral roll of Tamil Nadu in a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) even though she reminded the court in parting of his promise to take action if SIR leads to “mass exclusion” across the country.
Petitioner C. Geetha said her name has been a mainstay in the state’s electoral roll over the years. She even intended to contest as an independent candidate in 51-Uthangarai (SC) Assembly Constituency and 52-Bargur Constituency in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
