Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan said the TVK government would follow the existing bilingual policy in schools – Tamil and English.
Mr. Rajmohan’s comments assume significance as the Union Education Ministry recently issued a reminder regarding the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) program in the state.
“Our government will not yield to any indirect pressure and TVK will remain steadfast, without any compromise, in its stand on the dual language policy,” he told The Hindu.
2. Supreme Court Collegium recommends 19 names for appointment as Judges of Madras HC
A Supreme Court collegium has recommended the names of 19 persons, including 10 lawyers and nine judicial officers, for appointment as judges of the Madras High Court, which is now functioning with a strength of 52 judges against its sanctioned strength of 75, including three serving in other high courts.
3. CM Vijay should give sanction to prosecute Senthilbalaji in labor money scam: BJP
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay should give his government’s sanction to prosecute former DMK minister V. Senthilbalaji in the alleged labor money scam, even as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly written to the state government again in this regard, BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy said while addressing journalist Chenna.
