Tamil Nadu: Stray dog bite leads to hospitalization of two out of four children

Four people, including a six-year-old boy, were injured after they were bitten by a stray dog in Chennai’s MGR Nagar on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) night.

Police said residents of Nagathamman Koil Street in Sanjay Gandhi Colony have recently been complaining about the menace of stray dogs in the locality. On Tuesday evening, a stray dog bit four people, including residents of the locality and passers-by.
The victims were identified as K. Panneerselvam, who works as a painter and a street dweller, along with three residents of Choolaipallam including P. Pradeep (25), B. Bhuvanesh (13) and S. Hariharan (6).

While the three persons who were admitted to the KK Nagar Government Hospital were later referred to the Royapettah Government Hospital for treatment, a six-year-old boy, Hariharan, is being treated at the Egmore Children’s Hospital.
The MGR Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
