The 27 -year -old Dalit’s software engineer was brutally hacked to death in the Trunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, allegedly over the intermediate relationship, the police said on Monday. According to Top PTI, the Kavin Selva Ganesh victim, which was employed in the software company in Chennai, belonged to the Devendra Kulalalar community, scheduled caste.
The suspect, Surjith, the brother of the woman Ganesh was reportedly in the relationship with, was arrested and reserved under the relevant parts of the law of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit (BNS) and SC/ST (prevention of atrocities). Police claim that Surjith, angry at the intermediate relationship, attacked Ganesh with a sickle. His body was later discovered about 200 meters from the clinic. At the government hospital Tirunevel it was made by postmort.
The Subhashini family belongs to the Maravar community, the dominant caste in the southern Tamil Nadu. According to the police, her family has long opposed her relationship with Ganesh for caste differences.
According to the news18, the parents of the accused-the sub-inspectors were connected to the battalion in Manimuthar-Ta, appointed in companies after the complaints of Ganesh’s mother with TamilSelvi, who claimed to have issued repeated threats for her son.
“My son is an innocent man. The woman asked him to come to the hospital. The defendant took my son out, threw chilli powder on his face and attacked him with a machete … The government should immediately exclude his mother and father.
The news report also claimed that the police officer confirmed that Surjit and his parents were booked according to the relevant parts of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit (BNS).
