The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has denied reports that one of its MLAs has extended support to C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in forming the government in Tamil Nadu.
IUML National President Kader Mohideen said the party remains firmly in the DMK-led alliance and has not issued any letter of support to TVK.

“We have been part of the DMK alliance for several decades and there is no question of leaving it. If Mr Vijay needs support, he should approach DMK president MK Stalin as he too has urged the Governor to take steps to expedite the formation of the new government,” Mr Mohideen told The Hindu.
Reacting to reports that one of the IUML MLAs had expressed support for Mr. Vijay, Mr. Mohideen dismissed them as baseless. “Our MLAs are in Chennai,” he said.
IUML currently has two MLAs, elected from Vaniyambadi and Papanasam constituencies.
Mr. Mohideen confirmed that the actor-politician had approached the party for support through a letter, but reiterated the IUML’s stand.
“Our position is clear. We are part of the DMK alliance. At the same time, we are sure that the current situation should not lead to a Governor’s rule,” he said.
