Mudukulathur Assembly constituency, unlike other constituencies in Ramanathapuram district, is completely dependent on agriculture.
Although not entirely supplied by the Vaigai River, the agriculture practiced here, which relies mainly on a complex network of rain-fed reservoirs and a seasonal canal, occupies a significant part of the local economy.
