The predominantly agrarian constituency of Modakkurichi continues to suffer from infrastructural gaps and environmental problems.
Known for growing turmeric, coconut, sugarcane and paddy, the region also has significant tourism potential along the Cauvery. But residents say development has not kept pace with economic potential, leaving several long-pending demands unresolved.
