The higher education department in Tamil Nadu has been the virtual battleground of the ideological war between the DMK and the BJP at the Center for the past five years. The result was not pretty.
Be it the National Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses, or the appointment of vice-chancellors in state-run universities, this ideological battle has taken its toll in the effort to maintain the quality of higher education provided to students in the state.
