Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) are demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and have activated their respective party machineries to mobilize cadres for the INDIA block protest to be held on November 1, 2026 in New Delhi.

While most of the heavy lifting would be done by the Indian National Congress, which is much stronger in and around Delhi, TNCC leaders are expected to mobilize at least 150 people from each district in Tamil Nadu.

Mayiladuthurai MP R. Sudha said the party rank and file were excited and heeded the call of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to lead the protest.

“We expect more than five lakh Congress cadres to participate. From Tamil Nadu, we expect at least 100 party workers to reach New Delhi from each district. Apart from them, representatives of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and other party wings will also participate,” she said.

While the Congress party is mobilizing people from across the country, Ms. Sudha alleged that the BJP-led Center was trying to curtail the privileges of Members of Parliament by not allowing emergency quotas in trains and not providing accommodation to their guests.

“EQ is not being released. Family members are not being provided with the accommodation we are usually allocated. Members of Congress in particular are being singled out. They are restricting our privileges and our movement. This is an undeclared emergency,” she said.

A senior VCK leader said the party has asked its bodies in Tamil Nadu and southern states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Keralam to mobilize a meager number of party cadres for the protest in Delhi.
