Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Seen Only In Suits: What’s The Hidden Message Behind It? | Today’s news

Actor, the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay grabbed the headlines even before his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) secured a big victory on its debut. Apart from his political stint, he also grabbed people’s attention by ditching the traditional white shirt and veshti often worn by Tamil Nadu politicians. Instead, Vijay opted for a sharp looking suit for cabinet meetings, public appearances, events and more.

Vijay wearing suits

The TVK boss once again opted for a black and white look as he attended a large public rally in Tiruchirappalli. At the rally, Vijay spoke for the first time about his choice of clothing.

Vijay addressed his supporters and thanked them. He explained about his suit that he will no longer be seen in many colors. He said his black and white suit is a metaphor for his views as CM.

“Aren’t we allowed to wear a coat and a suit? Is it only for people in offices? There is no such thing. I don’t wear many colors. It’s just black and white, like all our hearts. Choosing these colors is to show that I will remain transparent and simple in everything, just like black and white,” said Vijay.

Those present greeted his move with loud cheers on the spot.

At the rally, Vijay also took a dig at those in the opposition. He said they started criticizing the TVK government right after it assumed office.

“It was not even a few weeks after we came to power. Those who said they would be silent for six months could not be silent even for six days. They started complaining half an hour after we took office. The people of Tamil Nadu rejected the two parties that alternated in power and cheated them for years,” said Vijay.

Thanking the supporters for their votes, Vijay added, “You have chosen Vijay – not as Chief Minister but as your elder brother, your younger brother, your chief servant who has come to work sincerely for you. We could have done better but thank you for the support you have given to TVK. It will help us perform even better.”

This marked Vijay’s first major public rally after becoming the state CM.
