After Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government won the trust vote in the House and after Mr. Vijay’s reply on Wednesday, Speaker JCD Prabhakar adjourned the House for a sine die. The motion for adjournment sine die was moved by Leader of the House KA Sengottaiyan and was carried.
CM will protect me: AMMK MLA
The lone AMMK MLA from Mannargudi S. Kamaraj said on Wednesday that he had already expressed support to the government yesterday (May 12). “I will support the Chief Minister today, tomorrow and for the entire five years.
Mr. Kamaraj also recited the lyrics of ‘Unnai Arinthaal Nee Unnai Arinthaal’ from veteran actor-politician MG Ramachandran-starrer Vettaikaran (1964). He said, “Maaberum sabaithanil nee nadandhaal unakku maalaigal vizhavendum.” Meanwhile, JCD spokesperson Prabhakar said that Mr. Kamaraj should also say the next line of the song, ‘Oru maattru kuraiyaadha mannavan ivanendru pottri pugazha vendum,’ and said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will function like this. Mr. Kamaraj also said that he was expelled from his party for supporting this government. “The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who is going to save the people of the state, will also protect me,” he added.
“Anti-BJP Campaign”
The lone BJP MLA from Udhagamandalam M. Bhojarajan on Wednesday, while talking about the confidence motion, said today (May 13) unfortunately that it has become an anti-BJP campaign rally. Mr. Bhojarajan’s remarks came against the backdrop of several legislative party leaders speaking on the confidence motion and criticizing the BJP. The BJP MLA also said that after having two MPs in Parliament in the 1980s, the BJP had grown to such an extent that it was in power for a third term at the Center and became the ruling party in many states.

When AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi. K. Palaniswami, rebel leader C. Ve spoke. Shanmugam called C. Vijayabaskar who went to him and talked to him for some time. Later, when Mr. Palaniswami was about to finish his speech and Mr. Velumani was about to speak, Mr. Shanmugam went to Mr. Vijayabaskar and told him confidentially.
Sustained effort required: Sowmiya
PMK MLA Sowmiya Anbumani said sustained efforts are needed to end alcoholism. She welcomed the closure of 717 Tasmac stores, saying that whenever one store closed, several opened on side streets. Women were afraid to walk past Tasmac stores because of safety concerns, she said. As she spoke, the Chief Minister took note of her remarks. She also asked the CM to ensure a drug and alcohol free state for future generations.
