Personnel of flying squads and static surveillance teams seized cash, liquor, drugs and narcotics worth ₹66,77,963 without valid documents at various locations in seven assembly constituencies of Villupuram district on April 1.
Flying squads and static surveillance teams have been set up in each assembly constituency since the model code of conduct came into effect after the Election Commission of India announced the date for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
During vehicle checks, teams at various locations in seven constituencies seized cash that was transported without valid documents. Cash, alcohol and drugs amounting to ₹66,77,963 were seized by the flying squads while the total amount seized by the police was ₹15,70,484.
An official report said the seized amount released by officials till March 31 was ₹42,70,620.
