AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday said that an inquiry into the red sand mining case in which former minister K. Ponmudy was acquitted would be initiated after the AIADMK comes to power.
At an election meeting in Villupuram, he accused the DMK of being a “guide to corruption” and said Mr. Ponmudy was exonerated because of false testimony by officials. This case will be reopened after AIADMK comes to power and action will be taken against all officials who gave false evidence. According to him, this will be the last election for the DMK.
Mr. Palaniswami described the AIADMK alliance as strong, while he called the DMK front an “alliance of slaves”. He wanted to know if parties like Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Congress and Left parties share the same ideology.
The Prime Minister is deceiving the people. The parties in the AIADMK alliance are also competing as a unit in neighboring Puducherry, unlike the ideologically “disparate” partners of the DMK. DMK gave less seats to CPI than in 2021 and denied VCK’s demands.
In a veiled reference to the DMDK, he said that the AIADMK had revived the party which was on fan support. But they joined the DMK alliance. Mr. Palaniswami also promised to revive the desalination project for Villupuram district, which was stalled by the ruling DMK.
