Home to the century-old hilltop Sri Subramaniyaswamy temple at Viralimalai and the famous Jain heritage at Sittanavasal, Viralimalai Assembly constituency is in Pudukottai district. The two prominent places are the center of attraction for devotees, tourists and heritage lovers throughout the year in this constituency where agriculture and several major industries coexist.
Like any other assembly segment in Pudukottai district, Viralimalai is a rainfed area with agriculture as its mainstay. Despite the presence of numerous water bodies in the form of reservoirs and ponds, many of them are dry and have been encroached upon, farmers complain.
