With regard to the anniversary of the birth of the legendary Tamil King Rajendra Chola and Aadi Thirathirai 23 this year, the main Minister Tamil Nadu MK Stalin (July 22, 2025) announced that “Chola Gangam lake” will be developed for 12 ₹ Crore. He also announced that on -site tourist activities will be developed at the cost of CRORE 7.25 GBP.
Chola Gangam, also known as “Ponneri”, was dug by King Rajendra Chola I to celebrate his northern campaign, according to the copper plates of Turavalllangad. According to the main minister’s announcement, the tank banks would expand by 700 acres, the official release.

The canals around the tank and other maintenance work would be carried out. These works would help in irrigation in this area and would therefore benefit farmers in 1374 acres. Development activities, which are to be carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, would include the establishment of an information center, park, peripheral walls, tracking cameras, electricity and other equipment.
Since 2021, the Tamil Nadu government has been celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the legendary Tamil King Rajendra Chola at Aadi Thirathirai. It is already in the process of establishing a museum unfolded on 10 acres at the price of 22.10 crore. Preliminary work for the establishment of a museum has already been turned on, the edition said.
